Vinegar Easily Cleans A Showerhead
Do you have a showerhead that’s spritzing water at weird angles, or maybe the water is barely coming out at all? Before you spend money on replacing a showerhead or use chemical-based cleaners to do the job, just take a quick trip to your kitchen and grab some white distilled vinegar to take care of the problem.
Vinegar’s acetic acid will loosen up any dirt, grime and mineral deposits that might be making your showerhead operate less efficiently than it should. Simply pour a cup or so of white distilled vinegar in a zip top bag, place around the showerhead, making sure that the face of the showerhead is in the vinegar, and tie with a rubberband around the fixture. Wait at least an hour and then remove the bag. You can use a small toothbrush to brush away the loosened deposits or simply run the water to wash the gunk away.
Why It’s Better For Your Health: Reduces your exposure to toxic cleaning chemicals that can have negative affects on your health, from headaches to much worse.
Why It’s Better For the Earth: If you save your current showerhead instead of buying a replacement, you’ll be reducing landfill waste as well as the energy and materials needed to produce a new showerhead.
Using a more natural cleaning alternative reduces the amount of toxic chemicals washed down the drain into our public waterways which will then affect marine life and end up in the public drinking water supply.
