Wash Your Produce With Vinegar

Can’t afford organic fruits and veggies yet want to be sure you remove as much nasty stuff off of your produce as you can?  Or are you eating organic fruits and vegetables and just want to consume the cleanest produce as possible?

Good news!  You can kill 98% of bacteria on produce with good old fashioned white vinegar.  Mix one part of vinegar to three parts of water (a 3:1 mix) and spray on your produce before cooking or eating.  Rinse off the fruits or veggies after spraying to avoid a vinegar taste and enjoy a healthier snack.

Why It’s Better For Your Health:  You never know what might be lurking on fruits or vegetables grown in the ground and then transported, so just to be safe, give them a vinegar rinse to kill any questionable ingredients.

Why It’s Better For the Earth:  You probably already have white vinegar in the house and can use this multi-purpose product on your produce.  Commercially prepared produce washes must be sold in plastic packaging and packed up in cardboard boxes, both of which uses natural resources, and then must be shipped to the store, using fuel.
