Exfoliate Your Skin With a Washcloth
Just about every good skin care regimen involves exfoliating your skin to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the new ones. However, most exfoliation comes from using pre-packaged tubes of cleansers or creams that contain exfoliating granules.
Why not skip the tubes and just use a good, old-fashioned washcloth instead? A damp washcloth, whether on your face or body, can just as effectively stimulate your skin to start renewing itself. It’s a cheap and effective way to be good to your skin and the Earth.
Why It’s Better For Your Health: A good, old-fashioned washcloth doesn’t contain any of the potentially harmful chemicals that prepared exfoliators can contain, such as parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate or phthalates, which can be absorbed by your skin if a residue remains.
Why It’s Better For The Earth: A washcloth is renewable time and time again, and when it’s too grungy for your body, use it to clean the bathroom and kitchen.
Prepared exfoliatiors must be created with materials in a production facility, which involves the use of natural resources. Then the tubes and jars must be created, involving resources, and then transported, using fuel. When you use the product, whether all-natural or conventional, it’s still going to get washed down the drain to be treated at a water treatment plant. And then, if you don’t or can’t recylce the packaging, it will end up in our landfills.

I do this everyday! Yay for this blog and making me feel “greener.” Love, Goddess
